Hey there, warrior mums! Brad here. I'm not just a fitness coach - I'm a dad who's going through the newborn trenches. After seeing my partners postpartum journey and working with a lot of new mums, I've got some real talk for you about getting back in shape after having a baby.
The Honest Truth About Your Post-Baby Body
Your body's been through the wringer. You've just grown a human for 9 months, and your body has just birthed a gift. I cannot begin to tell you about how many of my clients freak out about their "jelly belly" after birth. But here's the deal - your body just did something amazing, and in time it can be amazing again, it just needs some TLC.
Why Bother Moving When You're Exhausted?
Get Your Core Back in Business: Those core muscles have been through a lot, stretching to grow your baby for 9 months. After birth, you may find yourself struggling to get out of bed, pick up or even hold your baby. But after a few weeks of gentle core work, you can be doing these movements with no problem.
Beat the Baby Blues: Moving your body can seriously help your mood. I've seen mums go from feeling like zombies to actual humans after just a short workout.
Find Some Energy (I promise it's there): I know, I know. You're running on fumes. But trust me, a little movement can actually give you a boost. It's like magic.
How to Get Started Without Losing Your Mind
Chill Out: Seriously, don't rush into anything. Your body needs time to heal. Wait till your doc gives you the all-clear.
Focus on the Basics: We're talking pelvic floor and deep core stuff. Kegels are your new best friend. One of my clients, Sarah, said she felt like she was "relearning how to use her body."
Listen to Your Gut: If something feels off, stop. No need to be a hero here.
Do What You Can: Even 5 minutes a day counts. Heck, I had a client who did squats while brushing her teeth. Whatever works!
Real Talk from Coach Brad
Ladies, I've seen it all. The tears, the frustration, the victory dances when you finally fit into pre-pregnancy jeans (even if you can't breathe in them). Remember, every mom's journey is different.
If you're freaking out about getting started, you're not alone. Most of my clients feel the same way. That's why having someone in your corner can make a huge difference.
Celebrate the small stuff. Did a push-up on your knees? Awesome! Took the stairs instead of the elevator? You're killing it! One of my clients, Amy, treated herself to a fancy coffee every time she worked out for a week straight. Whatever motivates you, go for it.
This isn't about bouncing back or any of that nonsense. It's about feeling like yourself again - maybe even a stronger version of yourself. You've got this, mama. And hey, if you don't feel like you've got this, fake it till you make it. That works too.
Keep at it, Brad
